“And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself” (Acts 20:32, NLT).
Recently, CNN wrote a piece on author, speaker, and pastor Francis Chan and his move to Asia. It was titled “Christian famous” quits his church, moves to Asia. Chan said his celebrity status made it difficult to practice ministry.
I wonder sometimes if Paul might have ever felt similar. Chan quoted Paul, and that makes sense to me. When God calls a man or woman into full time ministry, he doesn’t say it’s going to be easy. The legacy or inheritance you leave behind is ultimately not about you. The message is simple. Christ and Him crucified. “I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus” (Acts 20:21, NLT).
Wherever you call us, may we have the faith to believe–and go. Wisdom is found when we fear you. Help us to put the needs of others above our own so we can be called worthy of the Gospel of Christ.
