The New Living Translation
Reading the NLT with YouVersion

If you have a smartphone (or an iPad), you need to know about YouVersion. It is a great tool that helps me to read my Bible regularly when I have some downtime. And for the next three months, you’ll be able to download the NLT to make your reading experience more seamless.

The good folks at LifeChurch.tv provide this free service as an application on virtually every mobile platform, and they are lightning fast at getting good, user-friendly apps available on new platforms as they come on the market. You can currently read the Bible on iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, and even the new Windows 7 phone, launching today.

YouVersion rolled out a new version of their iPhone application this week, and along with it we are pleased to let you know that the NLT is available for download as an offline version from now until 1/31/11. The benefit of downloading the NLT as an offline version on your phone is that it will be available to you even when you don’t have a data connection, and moving from chapter to chapter as you read is much faster.

Give reading the Bible on your mobile device a try. I think you’ll find that it is very rewarding. If you do already use a mobile device to read your Bible, share about your experience in the comments.

I have an old Nokia device that can read ePub files and also has a program that uses Sword modules. These would be great.

I hope soon Tyndale will make NTV (NLT in Spanish) available in an electronic form. Maybe make an arrangement with Bible Gateway.

Electronic editions for the NTV are in the works, and both YouVersion and Bible Gateway are high on the priority list. For now, you can read the NTV online at http://bibliantv.com (use the search box in the lower left corner of the site).

Hi, I also had to reset my phone and lost this version. Can we have it available again. I love this version when working with teens.

Thanks

I had to reset my iPad and have lost the translation I use each week with you version. Could you please repost the version?

Any chance that NLT will be available to download for offline use again?

My iPod Touch’s software became corrupted and I had to reload it, so I lost my YouVersion app and the NLT & NIV I downloaded.

I would like to see these bibles available for download once again!

****An update on the download option for this app:

I was pleasantly surprised to discover just this week that the NLT version is now available as a download for the iPad “compliments of Tyndale”. THANK YOU Tyndale for providing this for us! I am a huge NLT fan and promote it often to my friends, but was previously stuck with only alternate, similar (but not as awesome) NLT-like versions when I went places with only my iPad and no Wi-Fi. Now I can have my NLT with me wherever I go, without hauling along a separate book.

The NLT is my favourite Bible translation and YouVersion is my favourite Bible app, but unfortunately I got the iPad after the download time had completed. Way are the chances of you making it available for download for YouVersion again? I live in South Africa where we don’t have WiFi or 3G coverage everywhere.

Thanks and God bless!
