The New Living Translation
Get A Bible Give A Bible

Do you have a friend, or maybe a spouse or another family member you’ve been wanting to start a one-on-one Bible study with? Maybe there’s someone in your life who you’d like to give a Bible to and talk to them about it? Wouldn’t it be great if you could buy two Bibles and give one to a friend so when you discussed the Bible you could be literally on the same page?

Have you ever done this before? Have you bought two Bibles, one for yourself and one for a friend or relative so you could walk through scripture together? It seems like a great idea to me. If it’s the same translation (maybe the NLT?) you’d have the same words, if it’s a study Bible, you’d have the same insights. This sounds like a great project to work on this summer. Will you take the challenge?

If you do, I’d love to hear about. Find me on twitter and tell me your story, or leave a comment on the NLT Facebook page.

This week we’ll help one person start on this challenge with a two Bible giveaway. Leave a comment and tell us who you would give the second Bible to and we’ll pick one random person to win two copies of the In His Image Bible NLT.

But remember, you can still bless someone with a new Bible even if you don’t win!

I would love to have a pair of these Bibles. I’m getting ready to start seminary and this would be a great way to keep my wife and my relationship focused over the next three years.

I am a huge fan of the NLT and this would be an amazing study Bible!

I would share my Bible with a woman in my small group who is just beginning to learn about Jesus!

I’d love to give the bible to one of my high school students. I am a volunteer youth worker at my church, and I run a high school girls small group weekly. I can just imagine how honored one of the girls would feel to get a brand new NLT bible! It’s something they could hold on to and use for years and years and always think back fondly on how they first got it. πŸ™‚

God Bless you! A Bible (or 2) is the best giveaway offer ever! My 8 year-old son has become a prolific reader. I would love to read the Bible with him everyday. He could have his own Bible and we could read the same passages and then discuss them afterwards. He has a kids Adventure Bible right now, he has been asking for an “adult” Bible. πŸ™‚

I would give one copy to my uncle. He has a Bible now that is quite old looking ( which is a good thing ) but I want to gift him with one just like mine. We have had several Bible talks together but I think it would be better if we both had the same translations too. It would be a perfect Father’s Day present to him. We had a pretty rocky relationship during the time when my mom was sick and had reconciled last year in May. I feel our relationship has more conversation since we are on the similar spiritual page. We have some great discussions together when my family is over. While everyone else is outside on the porch, him and I spend quality time talking about life.

I would love to give this Bible to my son who is currently incarcerated – I have been praying that God would put someone in his life that would help him to “get it” He has made a lot of Bad Choices in his young life (24 yrs) but our God is a God of Second Chances (and 3rd/4th & 5th Chances)
Please Keep my son MICHAEL in your prayers – I will not give up on him !!

God has recently used me to impact the life of a young man. I work at a local high school and have had the privilege of working with teens 8 hours a day. This young man was depressed, a cutter, abused at home, and suicidal. Over the course of a year and a half this 15 yr old slowly become curious about what made me different from the other workers. He once told me early in our relationship that he didn’t believe in God, and if there is a god, that he would hate him; because of the way his life was. He consistently came into school with evidence of abuse, from neglect to physical abuse. He ended up in the ER several times because of panic attacks and even had reports submitted to social services.

In short, God saved this young man’s life. I believe if God did not intervene in his life he would’ve hurt himself or worse. One evening this young man came to me during one of my night shifts. He asked me the question of questions in a note, because he writes what he feels and what he wants to say on paper. He asked me, “How can I become a Christian like James?” My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I read that. All glory to God who worked in this young person’s life to make him say, “I don’t believe in God” to “How can I become a Christian like James?”

Over-joyed, I wrote on paper on how to become a child of God, and also vocalized it to him. He agreed that about his sin, about God, about Jesus’ death and resurrection, etc.

Today he is hungry for God! He still lives at home where Christianity is frowned upon and the Native tradition flourishes. He is in the midst of a daily spiritual battle and needs food of a spiritual nature. He is an avid reader and is reading the Bible I gave him. I think he would benefit tremendously from this devotional Bible. Thank you for reading and if you were inspired, encouraged, or challenged by his story, consider helping this young man. God bless and Bless God.

What a great idea. My son is the Chaplain of his scout troop, and his goal is to have a Bible in every cabin at the “Scout Reservation”. The NLT would be a great version for both young and older scouts.

I would give this Bible to my mother in law. She’s not a Christian yet, but this might speed things up with a bit of prayer for back up.

20th May, 2011 at 4:04 pm

I have two people in mind to give the Bible’s too. One is my 42 year old son that is a new Christian and the other is a young man that doesn’t have a Bible.
My son has an old KJV but the NLT is so much easier to understand that I think it would really help him.
I use the NLT all the time but mine is the older version.
Thanks for making this offer available.

There is a boy in my son’s preschool class whose mother I would like to share a Bible with. She has 8 children, lost one about a year ago to cancer, and seems to have some depression and self-esteem issues. I’d love to share a Bible with her.

My step-son, Robert, is 18. Recently, he has come to me and expressed the wisdom that he is working through re-identifying himself in relationship with me, and with God, instead of with his biological father who was very abusive and not a Christian. This is a struggle, and is a deep work as it relates to how he knows God. In response, I am humbled and trying to become even more available in a spiritual way, including daily fellowship and discipleship. We’ve begun to read the Bible, together, but we’re using two different versions, as he has his, and I have mine. We go online to use online Bibles, and that helps. It would be very efficient and a blessing if we both had the same Bible and resources in hand, as we connect and seek our Father, together.

Thanks for considering us… Maranatha!

I would like to send the book to my brother. He recently passed through a divorce and a battle with drug addiction. In spite of his successes, he says he is an atheist and doesn’t believe in God. I would like to mentor him with this Bible.

I would share the bible with a friend who is struggling with finding and accepting her identity as a daughter of the king, and rejecting the values of the world with which she continually compares herself and comes up lacking.

21st May, 2011 at 12:19 pm

I actually just talked to my friend the other day about starting a bible study together. I would like to start a mentoring group for middle/high school age girls and we were going to get together and start addressing the issues that this age group faces. Then we were going to search out God’s Word and compile a mentoring cirriculum accourding to what the Lord teaches us through His Word. I would love to win a set of these bibles…especially because our whole mission is to teach these young ladies how to reflect Christ’s character in every situation they face!

I am trying to find myself in Christ once again – I have been searching for a new Bible – one to share with my adult daughter would be awesome – thank you for your ministry.

22nd May, 2011 at 9:28 am

I work with children at our church on Bible memory verses. It would be great to give these to a couple of those families!

22nd May, 2011 at 12:30 pm

I would share this Bible with a very very close friend of 15 years. She struggles with life daily and see’s no light at the end of the road as difficulty after difficulty hits her. As hard as I try to help her, she seems to want to bury her head in the ground and expects the absolute worse for herself each day. Something has to give as she has just given up on a life and believes that running from things over and over and over is what she is destined for in life. We all know this just needn’t be that way….

22nd May, 2011 at 1:19 pm

my husband and i are starting to disciple a couple who have been recently saved and these Bibles would truly be a blessing in that endeavor.

If I was blessed with two bibles the second bible would be given to my mother. I wasn’t brought up with family going to church but I pray everyday that one day she will become saved, we have to start somewhere and what better way to start than with the word of God?

I would give one each to my precious children ….. they are gifts from God and we strive to encourage and teach them the way of the Lord. This easily understood translation would be ideal for them.

Whoever wins, I pray that they will be blessed!

I am a missionary in Suriname. I have a Bible study for women in Dutch (which is the language here), but I have a study participant who speaks English. Presently, she uses a paraphrase Bible instead of a translation. I would really like to see her using a real translation, and the NLT is done in such a way that the “feel” would be similar and so she would be more willing to make the change.
I would also enjoy the other copy for myself, since I love to read through a different Bible every year, thus gaining much blessing through a variation of insights that various versions and notes help to bring out, in addition to the Bible text itself!
Thank you for this offer…
